So Much for Which to be Thankful, so Little Time!

We got to stay home this year for Thanksgiving! My sister (Wes's) and her family came to visit.

In the spirit of my mother, who passed in June 2002, we had an unconventional Thanksgiving. We started the day with homemade eclairs. For Thanksgiving dinner, we prepared steaks, onion soup (not French onion soup, because a part of me is French at heart ;), dressing, scalloped potatoes, green beans, and asparagus. We finished the meal off with Cherry Delight (no picture :(. We also had an Apple Crisp, but it wound up being an after midnight snack for us the night before after my sister's family arrived after a tough day on the road. Everyone made a special contribution, it was a GREAT day and something for which I am truly thankful!!!

Since we will be staying home for Christmas this year, Lucas & Liam got to open some gifts, from Aunt Amy, Uncle Frank & Family early. Lucas enjoyed the toys and books. As you can see, Liam has different tastes!

This is Lucas, Liam, & their cousin Sawyer. Sawyer was promoted to legend status while he was here. Lucas LOVES Sawyer! They played so much it made me tired! Thank you Sawyer for being such a great buddy to Lucas while you were here!

This picture is love. Liam's cousin Jeff, an 18 year old college student, took time out of relaxing and being a "cool guy" to feed his youngest cousin while he was here. Like I said, everyone contributed in their own, special, yet unique, way.

Here is some of the food we enjoyed that was all prepared with SO MUCH love!

Okay, maybe raw beef is not the most appealing picture. But if the steaks looked THAT good raw, imagine how good they tasted when we ate them!

Nicole's first batch of stuffing and our only "traditional" Thanksgiving dish. It turned out TERRIFIC!

This was my contribution to the meal. Even though my nephews, Jeff & Sawyer, did not eat onion soup, they tried it. I did my first practice run at the recipe last week. It turned out well, but it was not nearly as pretty, or tasty! This looks like it came straight out of a restaurant (Chez Wes :) !

Last, and certainly not least, these are the scalloped potatoes my sister made after slaving away over homemade eclairs earlier Thanksgiving day.

It was a FABULOUS holiday, and I wish everyone could have stayed longer. As always, it is always good to spend time with those you love. A good time was had by all, and NO ONE left hungry! I came away with a great feeling of gratitude and a true spirit of thanks. God graces us with so much everyday. Thanksgiving is something we should take more time to consider daily.

Liam's Party Play Date!

Liam and Gabriel Potter got to go to the big boy party too! However, they had their own fun! The place had a space just for the "Little Big Boys" as our family calls them!

First Big Boy Birthday Party

Lucas went to his first big boy party the other day. He was so brave! The slides were pretty high, but he climbed up them and slid down all by himself!

Halloween 2007

For Halloween this year the boys were both Clowns...I was really surprised at how well they both kept on their "wigs." We all went up to Sydney's house for the Trick or Treating fun. Lucas did a great job saying Trick or Treat and Thank You! He is becoming such a sweet boy.

"I'm too busy!"

June was a busy month for the Akers family. We did a lot of things here in Atlanta. We went to the Children's Museum, ZooAtlanta, Minature animal farm, went to our first movie as a family, and Nicole and the boys even went on vacation to Florida, while Wes was in Alaska! It was a joy to see Lucas have so much fun and to hear him big belly laugh and giggle his way through June! Thanks to all my Boys!

Giddy up, Horsey!

Lucas was given this homemade rocking horse by his Grandpa & Grandma Akers. He really enjoys rocking on it. He also likes to try to move it by himself...but it weighs as much as he does...for now, he will have to just enjoy the ride!

Sticks, Rocks, and Bugs, Oh My!

We went to Kennestone Mountain Park June 6th and Lucas had lots of fun with his dad. Lucas found lots of sticks to play with. He was using them as levers to try to pry up roots, to no avail. His biggest fascination was with an ant that was crawling around the tree he kept climbing on. Later that week, I found a rock in the dryer as his memento of the day. He just keeps getting more and more fun.

Splish, Splash, I was taking a bath...

Liam LOVES to take baths! His favorite part is when you are washing his back, he likes to try to stand up while propped on his elbows. He also likes to look at himself in the mirror. These are from April 25, 2007. Isn't he so cute!

Two Too Cool

Lucas celebrated his 2nd birthday with his good friend Joshua and his cousin Sydney. Mom and dad celebrated with family and close friends. Nicole made the Nemo cake, with help from her mom. Liam spent the day hanging out in his swing.

Thanks to everyone who spent the afternoon celebrating our sweet boy. We look forward to celebrating many more birthdays with all of you! Here are a few pics of the day! Everyone was surprised that Lucas's favorite gift was his big boy underwear...which he had to put on right away!

Boys love their daddy!

Our boys really love their daddy. He is lots of fun. They really like to play, but they like the love, too! It's not often that you get a daddy as great as theirs!
